Do or die for Sweets

Walla Walla @ Corvallis (WCL Championship game 2)

- The Sweets season is on the line tonight when they face the Corvallis Knights in game 2 of the West Coast League Championship series.  The Knights won 14-3 in game 1 on Tuesday night.
- Game 2, and 3 (if necessary), will be at Goss Stadium in Corvallis.  Game time is 6:40 p.m. for both games.
- Tuesday's attendance of 2,380 was a Sweets record and WCL championship series record.
- Corvallis owns the league's best home record this summer, going 20-7 during the regular season and a perfect 2-0 so far in the postseason.
- The Sweets were 13-14 on the road this summer thanks to a great finish.  They started 3-10 but went 10-4 over the final 14 games.  They did not lose a road series losing two-of-three to Bellingham in early July.
- Denver Chavez is 3-5 in two games this postseason.  On Tuesday he doubled home a run in his first at-bat and then was either hit or walked over his next four plate appearances.
- Kalani Brackenridge and Alex Stanford have each collected six hits.
- WW is hitting .318 in the playoffs but Corvallis is stroking the ball at a .336 clip.
- Kramer Scott has an RBI in each of the Knights' four playoff games.
- Kyle Anderson and Max Beatty, tonight's starters, have both faced the opposing team.  Anderson gave up three runs on eight hits over five innings in a 5-2 Sweets loss on June 24.  The three runs all scored in the first inning.
- Beatty faced the Sweets during the opening series of the season and pitched great.  He had a perfect game through 6.1 innings before Chance Kopacz broke it up with a single.  He finished his night allowing just one run, a Stanford home run, on three hits and struck out seven.  He won six games during the regular season.  He started the Knights' playoff opener against Bend last Friday and took the loss, giving up three runs on six hits over 5.2 innings.
